Summary

How to use it

This ensemble is pretty simple to use, it's simply an audio effect like an echo or reverb or flanger. You can use a ReaktorFX VST instance on an audio or MIDI track. The incoming audio stream is converted into MIDI note signals which drive the synthesizer that is used as the carrier signal for the vocoder. The raw incoming audio stream is then used as the modulator for the vocoder.

An example of how to use it in Ableton Live

  • Create a new audio track
  • Place some vocal samples (works best with singing in my opinion)
  • Add a ReaktorFX effect to the track
  • Load HeavyLifting.ens

  • Trigger the audio samples, you should get 'something' to come out. I created a few snapshots for sumsynth that are conducive to vocoder effects, they're named 'Vocodery' with a number at the end.
